Beanstalk is a retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk from the point of view of the giant. Our version of this much-loved tale will delve into the world of giants, cloud farming and magical gardening. It will be a humorous story that will have you thinking about what it means to be seen in a negative light based purely on external appearances and how we can all become more accepting and compassionate towards one another!
The style of puppetry explored in Beanstalk will be Object Theatre (sometimes referred to as object puppetry) and will use found objects (fruit and vegetables) to create a story with characters. Object theatre deliberately uses everyday objects, either as is or transformed into other things, requiring the skill of the performer and the imagination of the audience for its success. In Beanstalk, the giant will be played by a performer and the other characters will be represented by fruit and vegetables with Jack as a knotted bread roll.
