Our puppet performance and making program enables you to mix and match workshops to suit the needs of your classroom, as well as allowing the possibility of lengthier artist-in-residence programs.
School of Puppetry workshops are a potent vehicle for arts education and can be tailored to meet the needs of both primary and secondary students. The program was established in consultation with professional teachers and has been designed to reflect the desired learning outcomes stipulated by the Western Australian Curriculum Council:
- Arts Ideas
- Arts Skills and Processes
- Arts Responses
- Arts in Society
Our workshop tutors have been trained to present structured workshops that will have your students brainstorming, creating, making and performing!
Workshop options include:
- Introduction to Puppets (presentation only);
- Junk Puppets – utilising found and recycled materials to create puppets. Suitable for children aged 9 and above;
- Hand Puppets – our most popular workshop, simple and perfectly suited to young children aged 4 and above;
- Performing with Puppets – story creation and puppet manipulation;
- Object Theatre – puppetry using commonplace objects;
- Body Puppets – large scale puppet making run over 6 weeks, suitable for children aged 13 and above.
School of Puppetry workshops can be presented as an excursion to our theatre or an incursion at your school.
