Introducing the First Hand project!

23rd April 2010

Spare Parts in partnership with Edith Cowan University is introducing a new graduate artist residency in 2010 – the First Hand project.

This exciting new project will enable two recent graduates of ECU’s Contemporary Arts degree to spend a year with SPPT
gaining professional training and industry experience to
help establish their early careers as puppet artists. The project builds on an existing relationship between SPPT and ECU that develops puppetry skills in a new generation of theatre makers.

Our inaugural First Handers are Jessica Harlond-Kenny and Izobel Ledger. Jessica and Izobel will be closely involved with the company’s activity throughout 2010, training with company artists, delivering workshops and developing their own visions of puppetry.

Check back later in the year for updates about First Hand activities, but for now – welcome Jessica and Izobel!
